No one is this class is the green man, but several of you are capable of being the other man. We will get stronger and stronger at writing/editing until you are the most popular student in your hall!
In Class Activity:
1. Get in families.
2. Essay #1 will contain highlighting to denote areas of your paper that are erroneous mechanically or deficient. On the top of your paper will be the same three elements as your family members. These are the three areas your family should find, read and study in order to improve your writing abilities.
3. Look up each element in your Hacker book, as a family. Read and discuss the components of the error. Then using what you learn, edit your papers together.
3A. Then, as a family, scour your revisions of essay 2 and MAKE SURE you do not make the same mistakes as outlined on essay #1.
4. As this activity concludes, I will as each family to teach the class one of the things they learned from Hacker.
5. You will receive a grade for the following: 1. relay of what you learned to class. 2. re-submission of paper one with errors fixed. 3. how well you were able to fix, particularly, the errors delineated at the top of the pages.
Assignments:
READ: the rest of "Economy"
WRITE: Revise Essays 1 & 2
Journal #4: What's Thoreau's problem with old people? Explain his point. Reference other parts of the chapter, then, agree or disagree. Explain why.
