       B. A member of the family should break down the paper, highlighting the components (i.e. rhetorical devices, etc) of the paper that were most effective

Weekend Assignment: READ/WRITE: Each family is going to be assigned two "This I Believe Essays." These essays are to be read and annotated. Family Two: "Returning to What's Natural" by Amelia Bacter-Stoltzfus p. 26 & "Baking By Senses and Memory" by Emily Smith p. 206

1. Did you enjoy the piece? Why or why not? Was it good?
2. What was the theme of the piece? How specifically did the author succeed in communicating that theme?
3. What was either effective about the introduction of the piece? How did the author utilize rhetorical devices to accentuate the overall importance of the piece?

WRITE: 1. Essay #3...three total drafts...due Monday
2. Begin working on a rough draft of your own This I Believe essay. The specifications for the essay are on pages 247 to 248 of the book, or on the site (above). Be warned to get started on this over the weekend...it can be a deceptively difficult assignment and will be due on Wednesday of next week.
