EOF Class #2, June 28, 2012: Assignments

Please come to Monday's class with a hard copy of Essay #1

READ: Usage section of Hacker (p. 653)

This I Believe introduction chapter and the essay that begins on page 233.

WRITE: Journal #1: Reaction to "A Duty to Family, Heritage and Country," for this journal, I would like you to react to the essay. What most affected you about it? How did you relate to it? In what ways did it challenge (or possibly reinforce?) your own core values and beliefs?
Journal#2: Analysis of "A Duty to Family, Heritgae and Country." In what ways did this piece evince the tenets of good writing discussed in class? Please make specific reference to the text and your class notes.

(To my little worriers, these journals are your "informal writing" assignments. They must be written and brought to class when assigned, but I may not collect them...YET...they will eventually be compiled, edited and turned in, so the more work you put into them now, the better you rest in three weeks or so. They EACH MUST BE ONE PAGE...Lotta love...enjoy the weekend).

THINK:   Hmmm...hypothetically, if I were to give a quiz, and I am of course, speaking hypothetically here, it might include the Hacker chapter and questions about class notes and/or Shoeless Joe Chapter One.

Remember that the narrative can be a series of stories or actions that evince your passion. It does not necessarily have to be just one.
